Young Artists’ Concert

Venue St. John the Baptist Church, Knightstown

Come and hear some of Ireland’s brightest young musicians in action, including Kevin Jansson, recent winner of the National Concert Hall’s Young String Musician Award and Muireann Ní Mhathúna, Kerry School of Music Student of the Year.

Moeran & Linda Buckley at St. John the Baptist Church

Tonight’s concert brings together strings, flute and piano in a programme that culminates in Schumann’s magnificent Piano Quartet. Also featured are two pieces by the Kenmare resident English composer, Ernest Moeran, who was greatly inspired by Kerry mountain ranges. Poulenc’s virtuosic Sonata for Flute and Piano is a timeless masterpiece. Resident composer for the festival, Linda Buckley, is featured here in Serein a hypnotic piece inspired whilst walking by the Baltic Sea.

We will also host a pre-concert talk and interview with composer-in-residence, Linda Buckley, on her music and inspirations.
