We are delighted to announce our 11th annual Chamber Music on Valentia Festival. Following our landmark 10th anniversary in 2023 we have a put together a programme of concerts, music workshops, immersive based experiences and participation opportunities that celebrate music from all over the world.
There is something for everyone and we look forward to welcoming you to the island.
With guest artists from Switzerland, Netherlands, UK and Ireland our innovative curatorship highlights include: ‘The Seasons on Valentia’ where we close the festival with all of Vivaldi’s ‘Four Seasons’; a focus on harps with the stunning HARPLAND by Ruth Wall and Graham Fitkin taking us on a journey through the ages; West African kora player and cellist, Tunde Jegede; gems of the chamber repertoire including Borodin, Beethoven, Brahms, Moeran. The opening concert warmly welcomes back Duo Singer & Fischer from Switzerland with music for cello and guitar from Bach to the sights and sounds of Spain. Gráinne Mulvey is our featured Irish composer and as ever we are delighted to support Young Artists through our programmes and opportunities.
Throughout the Festival other highlights and engagement opportunities include masterclasses, an opportunity to perform with Festival Artists, and the now much loved ‘Musical Map’ on Saturday 17th. We have late night concerts of the unique music of Eric Satie in the ‘Satie Hour’ and Tunde Jegede‘s ‘Testimony’ featuring this artist on kora and cello. We feature wonderful artists Darragh Morgan (violin), Elisabeth Perry (violin), Keith Pascoe (violin), Carmen Flores (viola), Sébastien Singer (cello), André Fischer (guitar), Ruth Wall (harps), Graham Fitkin (electronics), Tunde Jegede (kora/cello), Orla Charlton (actor). All of this happens within a multitude of unique venues on Valentia Island.
We look forward to you joining us for our 11th Festival this August in a range of unique venues on Valentia Island. As ever thank you to our supporters, venues, volunteers and audience in making this Festival exist in such a magical place.
