A Valentia Soundtrail

Call for Sound Artists

Chamber Music on Valentia 2022 announces a call for Kerry based artists to create a Soundtrail audio experience.

It will launch on Saturday, 20 August 2022 and form part of the legacy of the Festival. This call is open to musicians and/or sound artists who are based in Co. Kerry. Working with The Lighthouse Project (link embedded to find out more), the successful artist will create at least five sound recordings, inspired by five locations on Valentia Island, Co. Kerry. These newly-created soundscapes will be hosted on the Chamber Music on Valentia website for visitors to download and enjoy on location on Valentia, or can be listened to on-line alongside video footage of the associated locations. An additional strand to this project is working with poet Faye Boland to collaborate on spoken word.

Partnering with The Lighthouse Project, one of the aims is to provide opportunities for the creation of new work in innovative, sustainable and creative ways, looking at and beyond the natural landscape. The Lighthouse Project will facilitate the film recordings for the on-line installation version of the Soundtrail.
