Fuaimeanna Nua 2026

Call for event proposals

Chamber Music on Valentia invites applications from artists based in Co. Kerry to create a site-specific installation for the 2026 festival.

This year’s opportunity centres on Trees and Tales, an atmospheric concert taking place on Saturday, 15 August 2026. The programme explores themes of nature, memory, storytelling and landscape, and includes music inspired by Ailanthus trees by Nick Roth, alongside Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite and Dvořák’s Silent Woods.

We are seeking proposals from Kerry-based artists to create an installation at the entrance to the church venue that will help shape the audience’s experience as they arrive and depart. The installation may incorporate sound, lighting, or a combination of both, and should respond creatively to the themes, atmosphere and setting of the event.

We welcome proposals from artists working in any discipline whose practice engages with sound, light, space or audience experience.

How to apply

Please email info@chambermusiconvalentia.com with a single PDF document that outlines the following:

  • Personal details: your name, email address, mobile number and address;
  • A description of your proposed installation and how it responds to the themes of Trees and Tales and the church setting;
  • Details of the media you intend to use (audio, lighting, or both);
  • Any technical or logistical requirements you anticipate;
  • Amount of set-up and de-rig time required;
  • Do you have any access requirements? Tell us if there is any support or any conditions you need to enable you to participate in the opportunity;
  • Any relevant previous experience or examples of similar projects;
  • Examples of your work: please provide up to two links to relevant audio, video or documentation of previous projects.

Video and audio applications are also welcomed. Record your responses to the questions above (up to 4 minutes’ duration) and upload a link to your recording, including your personal details and examples of work in a separate document.

Other important information

  • The successful applicant will receive a financial award to support the creation and presentation of the work.
  • Technical and logistical support can be discussed with the selected artist during the development of the project.
  • Please note that this opportunity is open to Co. Kerry-based artists only.
  • Artists who have previously received a Fuaimeanna Nua commission or award are not eligible to apply this year.
  • We are keen to receive applications from individuals who are under-represented or who have faced barriers to participation in the arts; we particularly welcome applications from disabled people, Black, Asian and ethnically diverse people, LGBTQ+ people, and people from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
