Event overview
To mark this year, the 350th anniversary of the birth of blind Irish harper, Turlough Carolan, we present a programme of music by Carolan and other pieces from the 18th century, as imagined for flute, strings and harpsichord.
This concert, recorded in the wonderfully atmospheric Picture Gallery at Royal Holloway, University of London, was also an opportunity to bring together a group of outstanding Irish musicians with international performing careers who, in common with the rest of our world, find themselves unable to travel. We are particularly touched that we could get these musicians together in London to play and record this Irish music for you.

Sarah Allen, from London, is a founder member of the highly acclaimed and award-winning flute-based Anglo-Irish folk band, Flook.
Mary Dullea
Harpsichord
As soloist and chamber musician, Irish pianist Mary Dullea performs internationally at venues including London’s Wigmore Hall, Casa da Musica (Porto), Shanghai Oriental Arts Centre, Phillips Collection Washington D.C., Symphony Space New York City, Palazzo Albrizzi Venice (Italy), Johannesburg Music Society and National Concert Hall Dublin.
Sarah McMahon

Sarah McMahon is a passionate chamber musician. As a founder member of the Callino String Quartet, Sarah spent many years studying with members of the Amadeus Quartet, Rainer Schmidt, Erich Höbarth and Gyorgy Kurtàg.
Darragh Morgan

Described by The Strad Magazine as ‘hugely impressive, he plays with seemingly effortless control’ Irish violinist Darragh Morgan was born in Belfast in 1974.
Eoin Schmidt-Martin
Viola
Eoin Schmidt-Martin began his musical studies at the Cork School of Music before receiving a full scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Since 2005 he has been a member of the Carducci String Quartet.
Nicola Sweeney
Violin
Current assistant leader position of Irish Chamber Orchestra for the last 18 years, Nicola Sweeney has performed as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and the Orchestra of St Cecilia as well as the Irish Chamber Orchestra, European Union Chamber Orchestra and Belgrade Strings.
