Music for 32 Strings
Venue Church of the Immaculate Conception, Knightstown
This concert for the 32 strings of a String Octet will bring the 2019 Festival to a stupendous close. The programme will show off the versatility of this group and include arrangements of Irish airs; Carrickfergus (joined by Úna Monaghan on Irish Harp), Down by the Sally Gardens and Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin‘s rousing version of Óiche Nollaig. And to finish, Mendelssohn‘s exhilirating and timeless String Octet which he completed at the age of 16.
This event will feature a myriad of international chamber musicians including Darragh Morgan (violin), Keith Pascoe (violin), Rosalind Ventris (viola) and Tim Gill (cello), plus a collection of resident emerging artists from the UK and Ireland, Alexander Casson (violin), Emma Curtis (violin), Martha Campbell (viola) and Yseult Cooper Stockdale (cello).
