Daire Halpin is an Irish soprano of considerable reputation. Described as, “exquisitely voiced” (The Guardian), Daire has sung with Opera Ireland, Opera Theatre Company, Irish National Opera (INO), Northern Ireland Opera, Scottish Opera, English National Opera, the European Opera Centre and Theater Magdeburg. Concert engagements include appearances with RTÉ National Symphony and Concert Orchestras, European Union Youth Orchestra and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

Recent highlights include Through and Through (INO), Euridice Orpheus and the Underworld (Opera della Luna/Buxton Festival), The Maid Powder Her Face (Thomas Adès) (NI Opera/ INO/ Nevill Holt Opera/ Theater Magdeburg) and Hannah The Second Violinist (INO / Opera Forward Festival – Amsterdam).

Daire has given numerous premieres of new work most notably as Hulda in Raymond Deane’s The Alma Fetish (Wide Open Opera/ RTÉ NSOI), Byzantium commissioned by the National Concert Hall for Yeats 2015 by Nico Muhly for Daire and Thomas Bartlett and songs by Bezadhi for The Irish Language Art Song Project.

Daire is currently working with Michael Gallen on his new opera Elsewhere which
premieres in Autumn 2021.
