Cillian Ó Cathasaigh, recently received a first class honours in his BMus degree in violin at MTUCSM under the tutelage of Katherine Hunka. He will start his masters in music at Codarts Rotterdam with Eva Stegeman and Gordon Nikolic in September. He was a runner-up in the Irish Freemasons Young Musician of the Year Award 2024. He is an avid performer in classical, baroque and traditional Irish Music. He is a multiple prizewinner in Feis Maitiu, Feis Ceoil and MTUCSM competitions. He was a soloist with IYBO at their concert at HandelFest in 2024. He joined the Mahler Student Festival Orchestra in 2025. He was a member of the NYOI, and has held principal positions in Cork Fleischmann Symphony Orchestra and Cork Youth Orchestra, leading the latter for their 2023 concert tour of Italy. He is currently Concertmaster of the CSM Symphony Orchestra. He has won 5 All Ireland titles for traditional Irish Music on the Fiddle.
