Irish violinist Darragh Morgan has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician at The Wigmore Hall, Aldeburgh Festival, Maerzmusik Berlin, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, BBC Proms, Osterfestival Tirol, Bang on a Can Marathon New York, National Sawdust, Philips Collection Washington DC, Beijing Modern Music Festival and Shanghai Oriental Arts Center. He has performed as soloist with National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, Ulster Orchestra, Johannesburg Philharmonic, Istanbul Symphony, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, and European Union Chamber Orchestra.

Recently described by The Strad as a ‘new music wizard’ and by Journal of Music as ‘the leading Irish violinist of his generation’ his wide-ranging list of artistic collaborations, recordings and performances include everything from bebop saxophone legend Peter King to DJ David Holmes, Sigur Rós to David Bowie, Philip Glass to Steve Reich and Pierre Boulez to Helmut Lachenmann. Darragh has appeared regularly as Concertmaster with London Sinfonietta, Ensemble Modern, Les Siècles, Britten Sinfonia and Aurora Orchestra. A previous Finzi Scholarship holder Darragh also received an Enterprise Award from the Royal Philharmonic Society and in 2024 a Major Individual Award, the highest-value accolades for artists from Arts Council of Northern Ireland. He has recorded 75+ solo and chamber music albums, many of which have received Diapason d’Or, Gramophone Album of the Year Awards including recently his Morton Feldman For John Cage recording with pianist John Tilbury which was credited Classical Music Recording of the Year in Steve Smith’s, Night After Night. Darragh is founder member and violinist in the renowned Fidelio Trio and a former member of The Smith Quartet. Darragh plays an 1848 violin by Giuseppe Rocca, studied at Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Detlef Hahn and in masterclasses with Yehudi Menuhin, Pinchas Zukerman, Pierre Amoyal, Paul Zukofsky, the Takacs and Amadeus String Quartets. He has a PhD in Music from Ulster University. Darragh is married to pianist Mary Dullea, fellow member of Fidelio Trio.
